Hash on 23rd December. Run number 426
In traditional manner the run immediately before Christmas is always held in Erimi and is hosted by Anne and Michael Hasney.  This week we saw a total of 37 runners including about 13 guests. It was perhaps disappointing that a fair number of the old regulars failed to make an attendance at this time and they were sadly missed - but to their own loss as it meant the attendees had extra rations of Anne's splendid and scrumptious Christmas repast.
As our Hash Mistress Issy was away in cold and snowy Scotland, we were delighted to have Nick Smith stand in for the occassion. He continued in the said traditional manner with a typical long-winded joke concerning abuse in the services with the RAF coming off worst. He thanked the hares; Darren, Gill, Steve and Liz for laying the trails. OnOn Nick and the hares.
Barney was asked to critique the long run. Barney said that it was a good long run set by virgin hare Darren, but it was particularly bad for him as he got just about every check wrong. Eventually he thought that the majority of the hashers ran as far as the Kouris dam as they took so long; and Barney decided that he would take a typical Barney short-cut and make it back to the RV on time for the sausage rolls. After tucking away 5 sausage rolls he considered it pretty good overall. On On Barney.
Chris M was the teller for the short run (walk). He said that it started off badly as he and Geoff Fryatt went left and found a blob that had been laid by mistake !?). There were pathetic apologies by the hares, who made it up to the walkers by allowing them a toilet stop in the orange grove. Chris thought the RV was terrible but didn't explain why but added that he was awarding full marks for a good run in the end. OnOn Chris.
John was awarded his 100 run prize - about time too we all thought as he's been coming since 2007 - what took him so long? OnOn John.
Absent Hash Mistress Issy had decided to make this hash a Christmas Fancy Dress and the  prize went to visitors Chrissie, Nicole and her dad. OnOn the visitors.
Issy sent her best wishes for Christmas and hoped we all have a fantastic time. OnOn Issy.
After the circle was declared closed we got down to the important bit - eating and drinking the festive offerings. This year Mike and Anne had done us proud once again. Fantastic sausage rolls, shortbread, fruit cake and mince pies all generously washed down with mulled wine. Thank you Anne and Mike. OnOn the pair!
Next weeks hash on the 30th December is off the Polemeidia roundabout and up the Troodos road as far as the small dam. Hares are Chris and Faith Mortimer, aided and abetted by Nev.
