Run 394 May 20th 2010
For this weeks hash, Barney and Liz found a nice RV down along the track and area known as the pheasant farm. Taking note of the surroundings we guessed at once that we were in for Barney's usual quota of many hills. There were 46 runners of which 9 were visitors.
We left the RV and within a minute or so found ourselves trailing up the first of many inclines. After our first check we were soon puffing and wheezing our way up a much steeper hill and for the next couple of clicks that seemed to be the order of the day. We came across the slow run (walkers) a couple of times and of course they cheered (jeered) us along with their usual '' altruistic comments.
A few of the slower ones took advantage of a short cut up a steep hill earning ourselves the title of SCB - but the primo title has to go this week to Bob Bensley who was already at the top of the said hill having missed out most of the previous ground. Short cutting is all very well but to cut out 3/4 of the run??
Anyway, some of the walkers were now on the same trail as ourselves (by accident), and we all wound our way around and down from the hills narrowly missing a blunt-nosed viper who was not at all keen to make way for us. A good long run in and overall the whole circuit took 50 to 60 minutes depending on whose watch you were going by.
Kevin gave us the crit. And another record this week for the longest crit ever. He got quite carried away with nostalgia and at one stage I thought he was going to break down. Still he apparently enjoyed himself even if he did go off on a tangent into another valley and gully.
On On.
